This was a birthday gift a while ago. It was labelled UNC. There is a pretty big price difference between AU and MS 63 on this coin, so I'd like to get an idea of what you think. I've included pics in 2 different light settings..

I'm terrible at grading Peace dollars. Most of them look AU to me because of the low relief. I'll leave this for others to judge.

While your coin is a very nice gift, it does not look like an uncirculated coin. I would grade it AU53 and value it at $50 retail.

AU-53 sounds about right for this coin - looks like it has seen just a bit of handling

Almost full luster with just some friction on the obverse. A slider, AU-58.

AU for sure, not going to reach UNC to most knowledgeable collectors.

Thanks for the opinions all. I'm a little bummed that it's not mint state since that's how it was labelled from the coin store...

1934 was not a good year for the Peace dollars.
Wait until you try to buy the "s" for that year in that condition.
This coin looks to have full mint luster and just may grade MS60.(although I doubt it)
It certainly has a weak strike and a lot of bag marks along with circulation scuffs(fine scratches),
but I'm not sure a detect wear. You'll never know unless you send it in which would be foolish so
I'd be happy with it as long as you didn't pay to much (ie: ms63 money)
