OK, so since last Friday we have been not only doing our usual roll hunting, but we have been hitting banks looking for halves and the like. So last Friday we go into TD to dunp our halves and the teller has 10 Ikes just sitting right there in her tray! Of course we snag them. 4 are T2 76 that are soaking in acetone because they have tape marks on them. The others are assorted XF or better coins. We also grab one box each of quarters dimes and nickels.

That day I bust through the quarters, one 64 and some other nice ATBs. Kewl.

The box of nickels I take my time with and find two War Nickels, a proof and this gem...

8-Days-A-Week-Of-Ikes...and-Other-Stuff...

Best off center I have personally found.

Yesterday, off to TD again to dump halves, and find a 64 quarter in the reject. Yes! From there my son and stop at other banks and find more Ikes! These are BU coins, several 76D T2s, a 71D and a 72D.

Today, VACookey and I drive up to MD and do bank runs. Net one 64 Kennedy and more Ikes! Not to mention a lot of SBAsto go through and more nickels for searching. And these Ikes also are all XF or better. And here are a few of the best of them...

So, while there was not a lot of silver, it was an excellent collecting week none the less.

Not to mention a Minneapolis $2 star note, two older $20 star notes (1977 and 1981) and a nice 1950 $20 bill. And a stack of star notes that were less than stellar. I kept the 5, 10, and 100 and ditched the rest.

Please pardon my ignorance here BUT can you tell me what is so special about that nickel and the dimes?

I have an old 5 gallon glass water bottle nearly full of "change" probably from the last ten years or more and I have to cash them in soon so of course I am going to go through every single coin. I know I have thousands of nickels and dimes in it so as you can imagine I want to keep my eyes open for any thing of value.

The nickel is either off-center or was struck with misaligned dies, I cannot tell without a photo of the reverse. I do not see any dimes pictured, do you mean the Ike dollars? Ikes are generally not worth much but they have not been minted for almost 35 years and were America's last large dollars meant for circulation so they have a special place in the hearts of most collectors.

bio, the reverse is fine. Its only the obverse that is off center.

gaelic, as bio said, Ike dollars are special to a lot of collectors due to their short run, being the last of the big dollars, and just being a cool coin in general. While a good amount of them were minted, they are not the easiest thing to come by. In lower grades they arent really worth anything beyond a dollar. But these are better. And for an Ike geek like me, these are flipping awesome.

I think your wife is jealous.

No problem, just more for us.

And before she gets too mad at me...

I have a disease, and the only cure is more Ikes!

OK, so I butchered it, but I am laughing.

Ike dollars are one coin that just dosent appeal to me.
I do have a 1776-1976 graded by PCGS Siler PF-69 Dcam.
As for the off center nickle, thats a col error, but in its condition
I doubt its worth much.

Capt, that one isn't about value. Its the best off center I have found in circulation.

OK, I will see your 1977 and raise you this....

The stain on the back of his neck has developed since I bought the coin. I may have to break it out halt it if it grows further.
