Has anyone found any errors on the HMS Shannon toonies yet? I have 3 packs and so far all I have found is a small strike through a grease blob, above and between the O and the F in OF. Sorry for the photo quality as I scanned it in the plio package.

I haven't found anything too astounding yet, but I've found doubling errors on the inscriptions (both sides, though usually the obverse), small die cracks coming off the queen's nose and shoulder, and variations in the size of the serifs on the "1" in "2012". Combine those with the 2 orientations of the rim inscription (up/down) and you'll find that there's several minor error types out there. Hope this helps!

Yes pennysaver, the twoonie needs a Zoell - it is just like those tinny little thingies that plague pennies and nickels.

It doesn't look like anything to me. Seems like it is extremely insignificant to the coin as an "error".

The posting was not meant to be an ERROR REPORT, it was meant as a question about the HMS Shannon toonies in general. Seeing as I have 5 of each Parks Canada Loonies and Toonies and I have eight out of 10 coins, that have die chips and extra metal. I wanted to find out if anyone else had found anything regardless of the significance or the error type.

I have not seen enough Shannon twoonies yet, but seems to me that it will be hard to find a "perfect" coin. The design have too many gimmicks forcing odd metal shifts under pressure, resulting in small plugs and cracks.

The same occurred with the 2006 commemorative, 2008 Quebec and the Parks. In my private list I don't identify all the possible combinations of cracks and plugs. At a point I tried to have all the combinations, now, I only have a list of what I found, what was reported to me and what I read.

That list of yours sounds interesting, t_y. Have you published it anywhere yet? While I collect mostly pennies and nickels, if I find an error/variety in one of the other denominations I always put it aside as well. The loonie and twoonie error lists always seem to be in short supply, so it's nice to see what someone else may have.

Someday, "Twoonie, The Book" will be published.

Meanwhile, I collaborate with Charlton (pics are from coins in my collection) and showing things here and there. If you attend NUPHILEX or the Toronto Centre shows, I will be pleased to chat about twoonies.
