Hello All,
I came across a coin that is a Hawaiian king kalakaua I, 1883 1 dollar. I wanted to know if this coin has any value and if so what would be the price for this coin.
Thank you
Jon

First off, a couple of pics would help us determine its condition and whether or not it's authentic. It is quite a rare and valuable coin. Catalog values range from $250 in VG condition to $4000 in MS-65 condition.

I agree. This coin is heavily counterfeited, similar to a USA Trade dollar or USA Twenty Cent Piece. If you found it at a place or for a price that seems 'too good to be true' then I would be quite suspicious.

In-focus, detailed pictures would be best, along with accurate weight in grams. Also tell us how you came by it. Check to see if it sticks to a magnet.

I found one too. I'm guessing this is counterfeit, but it's interesting either way! What do you think?

I am pretty sure the real Hawaiian dollar is silver. A yellow coin is very certainly a fake, and the surfaces are totally wrong. It is definitely a copy - but it's an interesting coin to copy regardless

Cool, thanks for the reply! I think I found something that says it's a "souvenir", or metal token. Used to come with a map. Haha! The real ones look amazing. My uncle used to collect coins, and give us cool ones for Christmas, so you never know!
