This one had issues I didn't notice in my utter adrenaline overload from the incomprehensible size of the bourse. Ticks on the reverse lettering I missed, I just never saw the gouge on the neck, and under the lighting I didn't notice that the reverse flan flaw at 5:30 was partly a post-mint hit (the bright spot). Mea culpa. I think this one's going to flip instead of stay. Opinions?

ALthough it may have MINOR issues, still a beautiful coin that I would love to have in my collection...

The only thing that jumps out at me is the rim bruise on the reverse. Not a bad MS brown in my opinion.

I like it, nice color to it. I like it as a 64, the TPG's would probably 63 it. Like you, I've missed little stuff like the rim plenty of times, these shows are generally full of distractions. I bought a small, lighted 8x magnifier because the lighting at some tables is so bad, it's easy to miss stuff. That light has save my behind! I once almost bought a very nice looking, full red 20's branch mint cent...then I pulled out the light and was able to see some field hairlines at a steep angle that I missed under the room light. WHEW! It was a $300 coin....asking price.

There isn't hardly a mark on the rims besides that small crater at 5:30, Could it be struck through?

I think it's a flan flaw but it could be struck-through. There's a bazillion images shot at the show to process; after that I'll put some real magnification on this one and see what's what.

It could be a planchet flaw, I don't see any displaced metal which you usually see with PMD. Closeups of that area would help.

I think it is ABSOLUTELY beautiful, and I am sure the pictures don't do it justice. I would love to have this 1911... just saying!

I didn't bother shooting a closeup, just took a 100% crop from the original image above. It looks to me like an unfortunate combination of a genuine flan flaw and a postmint hit - you can see the displaced metal. See what enthusiasm gets you?

I'd say it doesn't matter, it's still a nice coin. Like one of my favorite dealers always says "if it was perfect it'd be a 70". LOLOLOL

I would say it would be a 63.
