A little bit of Idaho history on this medal, Shoup was the first governor of the state and then went on to be a U.S. Senator.

I am pretty sure it wasn't minted in 1890. I was thinking maybe a centenial celebration. The back with the state seal is a little crude.

Does anyone know anything about it?

The coin had to be made privately in 1990 as a centennial commemorative. There are thousands of different private tokens and medals made similar to this and sadly they aren't worth more then 1$ unless it's something specific that a collector just has to have

I see you had it on ebay at one point. Any luck?

You caught me! I didn't have it on ebay. I swiped the images from there because my camera is not working very good at the moment and I was not able to get a good pic.

You are right about it. I was just hoping someone had seen it in a catalog or something at some point and could help me identify who manufactured it or who commissioned it.

I think you are probably correct about it being minted in 1990 for the centennial celebration.
