hey guys, I need some approval on the grade of this coin, I bought it in a lot for only 10 dollars at a local sale and just knew right away that it is extremely rare. I'm thinking XF Condition as there are no scratches and all of the details are present, what do yall think? Please let me know, thanks so much in advance!

I agree with you on the grade, looks like an XF-40 to me, maybe even XF-45. It is valued in XF at $115 in my 2012 Krause catalog, so you obviously did great for $10!

I see too much wear on the eagle's feathers to grade this as an EF. I would say VF, possibly a little better, VF+. I would say you're in the semi-high double digits with this one. Still much better than $10. I think you'll do well on ebay.

anyone else concerned about the pitted surface (lots and lots of little "freckles"), could just be corrosion but being a key date could also be a copy.

zoom in on the details really tight, looks like a very porous surface, like it was sand cast.

Here is my issue, alot of times these catalogs or books will say a coin is worth hundreds but thats not the exact market price. Use ebay and current auction results to get a good price. Also I do not like the surfaces....looks corroded or something like that

This looks like it was exposed to the elements for some period of time. I suspect, (strongly), that it came out of the ground. It's a great coin, in a solid VF condition, but it's gonna get slammed on details.
