I like the way many Latin American coins show the weight and/or precious metal content as part of the design and I'm casually putting together a selection of examples. This coin shows weight but not silver content (it's 90%). The coinage of the Dominican Republic is pretty limited and I was pleasantly surprised to find this one on ebay. I'd never seen one before and the price seemed reasonable so now it's mine. I read the mintage is a relatively low 20,000 pieces and the design is very attractive IMO.

What are your thoughts on grade, value, quality, and/or history?

I agree these coins are attractive and the low minted. However I believe this coin is 65% silver with a current melt value of $15.50. IMO the coin is AU- low MS with a value of $20- $25. I great coin.

WVU is correct on the fineness, .650 with actual silver weight of .5579 oz. It is cataloged as KM30 and he is also correct on the current value.

Whoa, I shouldn't believe everything I read on the 'net. Thanks for the silver content correction. I'll update my records accordingly.
