Bought this from a seller who seems to specialize in selling his childhood collection of hot wheels cars. I thought it was nice enough to buy it at 49.95, but don't have a clue how scarce they are. After all, I found one, so they must be really common. I started watching for one about a week ago. The obverse clash with the seated half is obvious. VF? That's what the seller thought, and I think that's about right. I'll take better pictures when it gets here. I'm pretty excited about this coin. It's a cool variety to have. I'd say VF details but may have some light surface issues. Has a cool die-break about 3 o'clock on the obverse. The soft middle on the reverse 'ONE CENT' is very common for the FE cents.

Wow, that picture is great. I really couldn't see that die clash until you posted that picture. Love that coin and I agree with VF 20.

I got that picture from another website, who credited it to Rick Snow. If you want to learn about flying eagle and Indian cents ... rick's the guy. Google Eagle Eye Rare Coins (I think) to find his site. Chance

Great find and thanks for sharing! It appears there is PMD on the reverse, the mark west of One Cent. This will most likely be a turn off for collectors serious enough to seek out Snow varieties. According to Rick's guide, this clash is the most common of the series (over 100 seen), but does carry a 3-star rating. I would invite you to join the Fly-in Club if you find yourself focusing on FECs and IHCs. Also, Rick's book is available in PDF. Hope to put a set of the clashes together myself; nice coin.

I noticed the hit on the reverse, but at what I paid for it ... I got over it quickly. It's a circulated coin and that sort of "comes with the turf". I paid no premium for the variety at 49.99....butI did know what it was when I saw it.
I am going to keep an eye out for some of the other odd clashes too.I had trouble envisioning this one prior to seeing the overlay picture, so with a little guidance in that regard, I may be able to pick up some of the others.
Thanks,
Chance

The members forum is slow, but it is well utilized and active. I would describe participation as quality, rather than quantity. New varieties are often discussed, and many members are eager to post pics of their finds. I'm extremely impressed with the Longacre's Ledger, which is a full color quarterly magazine with new varieties and tons of info that can only be found in very heavy research. The membership fee is well worth the magazines alone ($20/year or $35/Two years).
After 2 decades of collecting, I'm settling into Indian Heads and hope to be a more active collector of Flying Eagles in the future. Thanks for asking, DV.

I got this one in this morning, and am trying to get better pictures taken to post. It "is" the Snow-9 variety, and it's probably nothing short of a miracle that the seller, who knew nothing of the variety was able to snapthat picture that shows it relatively well.
These FE cents have been a problem for me to take pictures of from the git go. I'm going to try low, and indirect lighting after while, and if I can get a better set of pictures, I'll post them.
Even though there's a rim tick on the reverse side, I think it was a good buy. I'm happy just to have one.

I may end up joining to get the ledger. It's a short series, unless you count the indian heads, but there's a bunch of varieties. I'm sure the Longacre ledger has some good material in it.
Trying to coerse sSuperdDave into assisting with the photography ... and am still trying different exposures, different background colors etc. without much luck I might add.
