I was thinking of bidding on this coin on ebay, but let me know what you guys think.
In a PCGS holder. What do you think the grade might be?

OK, maybe I got it. I was clicking on the upload text, not the little green camera.

Looks like ol' George lost a few battles, scarred up like that.
And the eagle has seen better days as well.
I didn't bid on it, it sold a little while ago. No regrets.
Anybody else want to play before the reveal?

MS 63. I agree the obverse is a bit marked up. I wouldn't be surprised at MS62.

Drumroll . . . . .

MS66

Really! And someone paid $237.55 for it!

It's a 61-D for crying out loud. Even if it were all the way to MS64 it is only worth $14.00 or so.

I was sniping at it for $24.00 on the off chance that it were close to the 66 and somehow the photo lies.

$237.55

I'm not understanding this one AT ALL.

I did trace it over to a Heritage Auction. Their photo does look better, all the hits are not nearly as evident.

Before I saw the grade, I was going to guess MS-64. IMO, it's overgraded and looks a bit worse than another PCGS slabbed Washington quarter that was posted by another forum member which everyone though was overgraded.

Wow I'm surprised a coin with so many little nicks could make 66. Maybe there is some hope for my coins after all

Reminds me of all of the "Omaha Hoard" coins that are floating around out there. These are ALWAYS 1 to 2 points too high on grade.

There is NO way that thing would grade at even the Gem level, let alone as a 66! This must have been the last one on December 24th..after the Christmas party eggnog was handed out. Honestly.........

those 60s issues tend to look bad and this one is frosty- but I wouldn't pay that kind of money for it. not even close. I wouldn't even send that in for grading.
