is it quite often to find the rim of a $1 coin to be alot thicker on one side compared to the other?

Hi Loverr, It's not uncommon to see slightly off centre strikes in all denominations.

I think $1 and 20c coins are the most susceptible. I dont keep them but if you dont have any then they only cost face value.

I keep some that have the raised extra metal around the rim or like a split in the double rim but only if they look a bit more special,iynwim.
