Hello!

I will go to travel Nepal soon. Does anyone know a coin dealer/store in Kathmandu or Pokhara? Maybe a market which I can check out?
I am interested in getting some regular coins which are not used these days. Not really antique or special.

Thanks, Ivan

Always a problem in travelling to a country like Nepal.

Officials may not like you taking heritage material out of the country.

I have read an newspaper report of an Australian coin collector buying about fifty 19th century rupees in India for his collection, and being arrested for trying to leave India with them.
If you do see coins that may interest you in a market place, buy NON Nepalese coins to be safe.

The Greek and Turkish Governments have similar policies, and so tourist fake copies are made instead, to be foisted on the unknowing tourist.

I'm not trying to sanction criminality but...if you bought a few pieces could you not send them to your home address by courier?
