Well the family and I are headed to Disney next week. Does anyone know of a good place to search/buys coins around Orlando? Disney World has everything but do they have something for numismatics?

The only thing on property is the coin sets they sell for the World Showcase portion of Epcot. The coins are from the participating countries.

WDW attracts a lot of foreign visitors, but in all the years I have gone, I have yet to "mistakenly" receive foreign coins in my change. The cast members must be really good at filtering it out.

My nieces and nephews really love all of the elongated cent machines.

Amy found a shop in The Magic Kingdom, that sells jewelery made from old coins, but it may be gone by now. I have a gold plated 1857 Flying Eagle pendant with all of the fields on the obverse cut away. My wife got it for me when we were dating. We met, in person, at Disney in 1994, but started talking on AOL about 6 months before we met.

Remember, they have elongated coins all over the place.
On the 25th anniversary of WDW we did all of the pressed quarters in all the resorts and parks. We used 90% silver quarters for the set.

If you use silver, make sure you leave the obverse to the flat side and you can still read the date.

Here's a link to maps of coin press locations. http://www.parkpennies.com/wdwwaltd...ine-maps.pdf and here's the checklist and other info. http://www.parkpennies.com/wdwwaltd...hecklist.pdf

THIS IS NOT AN EASY TASK! We did the special set for the anniversary and It took us about 4 days to find them all.

You can find sets for sale on line in clad or silver. The set we did sold for a little over $300. I found a coin shop in Kissimee and bought 2 rolls of circulated silver quarters. I think it cost $35 for both rolls.

Wow thanks for all the info. I have a bunch of 2011 pennies I think I want to bring along to get them pressed. I will look for that shop in Magic Kingdom and we will be at this site more than any other places.

IF the shop is still there, you'll find it just inside of the Liberty Square area. You'll enter the park through Main Street USA and see the Castle straight ahead. When you get to the statue of Walt and Mickey, make a left and you'll be heading into Liberty Square. As I remember, the shop was on the right just over the wooden bridge with the sign over it saying what areas are ahead.

It's not a big place, just a small shop with a Cast Member working on the coins.

Let me know if you find it and have fun! I know we always do.

I've never been much for pressed coins but recently I've been thinking of doing a silver quarter set from the parks. Thanks for the map and checklist Yokozuna!

I can get a roll of circulated silver quarters from a local dealer for around $200 or less. Is this a pretty fair deal? Looking on ebay it seems like most rolls are going for around $230-260. Since these coins are for pressing would it be reasonable to clean these quarters to return some luster to improve the eye appeal of the final product? Will cleaning marks show after it has been pressed? I may need to start a new thread for all of these questions.
