Hey guys,

I've come across three circulated 1943 Steel Pennies. From what I gather, they arn't worth much (12-15 cents based on one website), however, I do have one from each mint.

1943 without a letter - Philadelphia
1943 with a "D" - Denver
1943 with a "S" - San Francisco

Are all these coins worth about the same (in rarity sense, not taking into consideration condition)?

Or are 1943 Steel Pennies from one of the three mints worth more (I.e. lower mintage)?

Thanks

Its based on condition but the S usually seems to have the highest value followed by the D at least in higher grades anyway.

Like the above poster said, the S and D coins tend to be worth slightly more.

Be careful when looking at high grade steel cents. They may have been "reprocessed" and are of little value.

Far from true. Many of those sell for $0.25 to $0.50 each. Yet a plain one that has not been redone could go for as little as $0.10 to $0.25 each. Many buy those replated ones for their Albums to look nice, not because they are worth a lot.
Rest in Peace

People can certainly put what they want into their collections. I consider processed steel cents in the same category as acid dated Buffalo nickels-not original. Granted the cents look nice.
