Hey, I have a 1937 that has a strange yellow color. Also, how wide does the date have to be to be doubled? Just asking b/c when I saw a picture of a 1937ddo, then it just had a wider/thicker date. Giving a few pictures, trying to show yellow color and get clear picture.

no sir, definitely a 1937, my camera can't focus that close so possibly that would cause some confusion.

Top photo looks like a normal coin. Others appear to have been Zinc or Tin plated. Like what people do with 1943 Cents.

truth told, all pics are of the same coin.
I didn't think that yellow color was normal...not to be rude, but I've only got about 1500 pennies, and a good 700 800 of those are wheats.
Another question: How do you tell if a 1937 is a double die? From the picture in the Red Book, it's just a wider or thicker date. But wouldn't that make it seem like all worn 1937s were double dies?

Hopefully it shows up well.

actually, as I look at this picture, it looks like the color is coming off in several areas: under America, and to the left of One. which shows someone tried to plate it? or am I wrong.

Seen this on a handful of wheats. Definitely plated or painted in some way.

If you mean the Red Book by Whitman Publishing, I'm confused. I have the 2013 in front of me and there is no 1937 Doubled Die shown. None listed either or am I missing a page? There is a 1936 Doubled Die and there is a photo of that and it does show Doubling clearly.

oh duh, yes, it was the 1936, I had been trying to remember from memory instead of checking back in the book.
