if anone here is familiar with this drink, there is supposedly gold flakes that are inside of it.
if this is real gold, why would the manufacturer waste so much on precious metals to be used in a drink and to the consumer, wouldnt you rather just filter out the gold flakes and drink the drink on its own?
that way you get to keep the gold and consume what you bought?
im thinking its either not real gold or its just a very light amount that its almost worthless if you filtered it out and weighed whats inside a bottle.
sorry if this is inappropriate but I always wanted to know this

Yes, it is real gold but it is in the form of gold leaf that only weighs a few milligrams and would be worth less than $1.

so the manufacturer isn't wasting too much money on gold leaves then, especially when they get their money back from selling 30 dollars a bottle

Its real gold, but its only gold flake. The amount used incredibly small from a weight perspective. IIRC somewhere just under 1/10th of a gram. so about $5.25 worth.
For a $25 bottle, probably not worth it.
That works out to a $6,220 premium per ounce.

hmm, next time I buy a bottle or a friend buys one ill make sure to filter out the gold that way I still get to keep it, of course it wouldnt be worth it to just buy a bottle of the stuff for the gold alone

Never heard of it. I'm not much of a spirit connoisseur, or a beer drinker, for that matter; but I'd be interested in seeing a bottle, or can, up close. Would any liquor store sell the product, I wonder?

It's very common in liquor stores. Just cinnamon (sp?) schnapps with little gold flakes floating around in it. You can't even feel them in your mouth, even though your tongue is sensitive enough to feel the tiniest of hairs. Definitely not worth the trouble of sifting them out.

Wikipedia, for what it's worth, reports the gold content at 13 mg/L. In Europe, metallic gold is a registered food additive, known as E175 (classed as a "food colouring agent"). For the record, metallic silver is E174.

Why anyone drinks it is beyond me lol. I'm much happier with a bourbon or scotch.

We keep it in the beer cooler at work, and yeah you would need thousands of bottles of it to have anything, in which case you would have a bunch of money tied up in shooters, rof . Which always aint a bad thing, but more often then not they want Jager these days.... Why I will never know, chilled cough syrup....

Think of it this way....gold is VERY dense....which makes it VERY heavy by volume. If the gold flakes contained very much gold at all...it would always immediately sink right to the bottom and not "swirl" around in the liquid. This alone should tell you that the amounts of gold in a bottle are miniscule.

Gold is extremely malleable as a single ounce of it can be hammered down into a square piece of foil that is 5metersx5meters, and a sheet of gold leaf is 400x thinner than a human hair :D well obviously, gold leaf only has a thickness of 1 single atom, man I wonder what an uncut leaf of gold could slice :D:D:D
