Alright, since we all know the updated 7070 won't be coming out for a while, I have been getting a little impatient, and I want to start my own.

I need suggestions.

I know you can get blank album pages, but how would I go about all the different coin sizes?

Or should I do 2x2's with pages in a binder?

I want to make it look nice, or fancy.

Where would I get a list of coins necessary for a 7070?

Thanks for your help guys!

I know of a few collectors that are using 2x2's in pocket pages until the updated 7070 comes out. It seems like it's been in the works for a while now, I'm ready to upgrade my 7070 album.

If you want a Dansco, especially since you want it to match then other Dansco albums you may have, you can get a blank Dansco binder and use 12-pocket 2x2 pages.

I have a few of these for my miscellaneous and dark side coins.

My suggestion is to just make YOUR own. Use the Red Book for a Guide as to the variety of coins to put in YOUR very own Album. Why let some manufacturer dictate to YOU what YOU should collect. Use 2x2's, those 20 slotted plastic sheets, page dividers to tabulate information and a super wide variety of 4 ringed binders. YOU now have places to add all the info about anything YOU want and not what some company tells YOU.

I got tired of waiting and bought the Intercept Type Set album and am more than happy with it. Getting close to completing it, well kinda close.

I really like the idea of making my own set, maybe a slabbed set, like oih82w8.

Just carl, I thank you very much, and will most likely go with your idea, unless another great idea comes along

Years ago, I put together my own type set (not 7070) with 2x2's and binder pages.

I like the a combination of carls idea and the slabbed set. The 70/70 list is good but theres some high value coins in there I would want protected in slab form. Personally Id like the list better if the gold wasnt included or they had a separate one without it making it an optional part.

The gold page is a separate page that can be added to the 7070.

Good idea.

I would strongly considering doing it this way if I were younger and did not already have the sentimental attachment to the 7070.

Correct. My 7070 does not have the gold page and it never will.

As I mentioned I'm just really irritated with some company telling me what to collect. It's my hobby, not theirs, so I collect what I want. I've made many Albums of my own and I really like them so much better than a company made one.
One thing I really like is a place to add any info about the coins in my own made Albums. For example on a 20 slotted page for coins, another one could be added next to that with little pieces of paper explaining the coins on the ther page.

Just Carl is so right about this topic. I really like Danscos for series that I hope to complete one day; they are great albums. However, a type set isn't a regular album. Having the same thoughts Just Carl articulated above, I started a type set using a highly configurable personalized approach. I've been delighted by the results. In my case, my "type set" evolved into a collection of coins that I really like for one reason or another. It has type coins, of course, but it also has interesting errors, counterfeits, colonials, civil war tokens, etc. It's also a convenient place to store one or two extra coins from series I don't intend to collect (why buy a separate album to store two or three coins?). Free your mind and the rest will follow. ;-)

Storage details are a personal choice. I chose Saflips so I could easily store notes with the coins. I slip the half of the Saflip that doesn't have the coin into a slot in a page meant to hold photographic slides. Because the side of the Saflip with the coin can flap around, I have to keep the pages flat, which is a bit of a pain, but I like it because it's easy to remove the Saflips to rearrange them or take a closer look. The bottom line is that it works for me. It's by far my favorite album.

I would go with the slabbed set and remember, you can still have raw coins in the slabbed set. You can just use Coin World Premier holders for the raw coins. I have my set this way and store them all in NGC slab boxes.

After reviewing the PCGS and NGC registry type sets along with the contents of the 7070 my complete type set listing is at 200 coins. Granted, there are some of these that I will never own, this is the complete set to me.. But it is your type set so add and subtract as you like. Here is my list...

Like I said, many of these I will never own, wish I could! That is why I have a column in this spreadsheet that filters out the so called high cost coins (whatever dollar limit I deemed to be the cutoff).. My realistic set would probably be around 109 coins or so. If I get that done, then I could pick at the high dollar ones.
