I as in Commerce bank this afternoon to get something notorized. I noticed an old lady finishing dumping her stash in the machine to exchange for bills. The bank teller said that many people do this. Just for kicks I bought 6 bucks worth of penny rolls and the 1 nickel roll...and came up with absolutely nothing. Perhaps I should have grabbed the old lady instead. I wonder if anyone has had some success with this. It would seem that this could be a higher chance place to be buying rolled coins in quanities and dont think that 6 or 7 bucks tells me anything... opinions?

My bank has a coin machine. I just went there and dumped about 2 sacks of coins today. Needless to say, I went through all the coins before I dumped them in the machine. Nothing good in that batch.

I would think the odds are better at a bank with a coin machine, but I wonder how many of the people are dumping coins that haven't been sorted already. In fact, I know several people have suggested getting rolled coins from one bank to look through and then return them unrolled via the coin machine to save the hassle of rolling them back up.

My bank has a machine in the lobby entrance, free to use. I talked to the teller about it and she said on an average day they end up having to change out bags half a dozen times. That's half a dozen full bags of coins a day.

I did my part. In the last week I've cashed in just over $100 in coins there.
