I want to be able to display my collection online and was thinking at the basic I could do a google docs/drive spread sheet with my own pictures and information and what not but then I've noticed some public catalogs and I was wondering who has any recommendations on ones they use?

I would like to minimally be able to:

Upload my own obverse/reverse images.

Have an auto lookup or record my own basic information like country, year, denominations, variant, etc.

Record my guess at grade.

Record my guess at value.

Record my 'serial number' for however I decide to code my collection.

Similar things like that.

Suggestions?

Thank you!

You could probably do it easier by making your own website. I'm sure there will be some kind of freewebs thing you could use though

I had thought of that. I rent my own server and it has database technology so I would just have to find enough of a front end that I wasnt making it from scratch as my programming skills are poor at best. But it is possible to find decent database packages sometimes for some portals. I was just hoping someone had something they already used. I've seen a couple referenced on my google searches but didnt see anything too snazzy so hoping all you knowledgeable people know something cool. :)

Thanks for the input though. I appreciate it.

I have a somewhat large collection of World Errors and have found that setting up a seperate facebook account, and posting the coins in seperate photo albums by the Country of origin, with descriptions added to the photos makes it easy to share and view what I have...

Thats innovative. How do you handle Obverse/Reverse pairs? Put them in the same image?

here is a link to my Great Britain Photo Album (have 30 individual albums posted)... The first coin has 4 photos and is described as follows;
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
***Photo #1 of 4*** {Great Britain}

Here is a 1743/1 (over date) 1 Shilling that looked like a uncirculated coin, and after submitting it for certification, this was my first lesson on what a "whizzed" coin looks like...

That an option but I'm a database geek so having 'one field' may be too 'flat' for me where as a spread sheet I can do multiple fields and sort and link and so forth. Though I may actually do both as I do have a facebook account and could be cool having the shots from the spread sheet in facebook. The idea of a digital portfolio appeals to me and making it public would be nice.

Thanks!
