I have been thinking a lot about this since reading cwtokenman's post. It would seem that some people love to link themselves to a name to create the illusion of being better than they are. Sometimes it is nice to receive the exposure, and sometimes it links us to people or places that we would rather not be associated with. When using the internet forums, we often use the same name as it is just easier to remember and it allows people to find us easily.
Bobby and Susan have created a wonderful site, and we all should help to support it. There is a link exchange button to make it easier for us with websites. If you visit other sites that allow you to link to this forum or place the website in your profile, please list coincommunity. Let us all help to grow our new coin community.
Remember that there really is no place like home

Well I was going to call myself Alvin J. B. Rockafella III Esq.

But I thought better of it! ;-)

Usually on forums I use the name 'Sylvester' or themes around it (cos I'm fond of cats), Sylvester II, Sylvestius, Syl, Elsie Tanner... *cough* ah erm don't ask... ;-) [Actually the last one was my sock-puppet on another forum, used only for humorous purposes, not to back up my points/argument, Syl II was used for that purpose... ;-) ]

But my Sylvester tag was getting a bit ragged around the edges and didn't smell as new as it used to. So I thought i'd have a change.

I like to use my name because it's (usually) easy to remember. But since it's so common, I usually have to add a letter to the end to get accepted. I don't think I would ever like to be someone else since I have enough trouble being myself.

Not many people know this but I was John Reich in my last life. And yes, the model for Miss Liberty was my mistress.

I am Susanlynn9 on all forums (except ebay). It's my first name and middle name together. While I try to keep some things private, I have never seen the need to hide who I am and I certainly don't want to be somebody else.

ND, I want to thank you for posting this thread. It would be great if we could get some links back to our forum and bring more members in. The more, the merrier!

Like others here who have posted, I use my real name in this and other Forums including ebay. Lim is actually my surname. Born in Singapore, completed my education in the UK and now a permanent resident of Australia. Coming from a mixed parentage of Chinese/Anglo-Indian...that makes me a real "chop shuey" ..

The numerals 118 after my surname when spoken in the Cantonese dialect means "everyday prosperous".......(I wished)...[:p]

To Susan and all the others, you have a great Forum here, keep up the great work....

Hi All,

Some of you might remember that I originally used the name "DreamMerchant". A Dream Merchant was an ancient Greek storyteller. A person who would roam from town to town telling stories of other places. People would listen and wish they could go and get out of the life they were stuck in. Donations would be collected and he would move on.

I thought it sounded neat at the time and was unique. Well times change and language's do too. Remember when being gay meant you were happy.? Well the same thing happend to me. All of a sudden I was being asked, by a bunch of people, if I was a drug dealer..! Some even asked if I thought it might be too risky advertising my business this way.

Well I changed it to my nickname "Catman". People who know me have been calling me this for years. I've had no bad feedback from it and I'm not in jail for dealing over the internet.

Well, my name is full Carl Hendrik Tromp, but a litte too long for a log in name, so it got just CarlTromp.
Becouse I have nothing to hide, I am not afraid to use my own name.

Gr. Carl
Rest in Peace

My name is Nick and there's absolutely nothing that I won't buy or sell for a profit, assuming it's not illegal and not more than mildly immoral.
So the handle of tradernick came naturally and has always stuck with me.
