Found this in 1991 roll searching. Please grade. Does the die clash on the reverse help or hinder the value? Thanks. John1

EF-40 is my guess. Would be nice to get some of the black dirt or residue off. Have you tried acetone, or does that not work as well on copper?

Probably AU details. Strong diamonds, some luster remains and not seeing any wear on bottom curls. However, I would classify it as a problem coin due to the verdigris and surface. I don't imagine the clash would have any affect on the value, even if problem free. I'm not seeing anything that would lead me to believe it is a variety, although date area is not clear.

Fantastic find in a roll! Thanks for sharing, John1.

I don't see a die clash on the reverse, but I see an interesting die crack. This coin needs about 24 hours in acetone. Awesome roll find!

You can actually see the clash on both sides: in front of Liberty's eye and headband, then on the reverse below the C and T in CENT.

I soaked it in olive oil for three days and it came out about 20% better then when it went in.I have never used acetone and from what I have read I don't think it would help much if at all. I have not had much luck with Verd-Care in the past. Thanks all for your input. As for value,do I subtract let's say 50% of what an AU-50 would be without the damage?

Agree with EF-40 details, environmental damage. I'm not sure if this coin can be improved through conservation but look forward to seeing any results.
