Not quite as crusty but I do love the way some 1950s silver tones. So many of these coins, many from mint sets, were left in envelopes or just in drawers and were toned by outgassing of paper and wood. Only a very few end up genuinely attractive with most, like these, falling into the "interesting" category.

I have two favorites at the moment in the wierdo section of my collection.

The first is from childhood. I found it at a roller rink (Remember those? Four wheeled metal roller skates?)

Anyway the floor was yellow paint on wood and I guess this quarter bad been down there a while hehe. It even had an imprent of the quarter into the wood on the floor. Too bad I couldnt carve it up! :D

The second is a more recent acquisition. Found it in circulation in the last month or so. Its stamped around the edges and I cant think of what would have done that so evenly and not done it further in or across the whole coin.

Things like "I wonder how that happened" amuse me a lot in coins because people treat money so seriously so often its 'what can I get for it' as opposed to more abstract ideas hehe.

Oh and the one linked here which I just found out of those 20lbs of bulk world coins from ebay. Tell ya the bulk coins from this one guy are worth it in my opinion for a novice like me. Great way to have fun building a starting collection without having to try and buy them one at a time and not know what your getting. Id get another 10lbs but its 100 bucks and I'm not even sure he offers anymore. I dont wanna link because I dont think I'm allowed to being this new.
