Well my son surprised me with a late birthday present he ordered these coins from Ireland somewhere and they arrived coins from my birth year 1949.

Can anyone give me any info about these as I am not into world coins but may get involved now :)

Will attempt to add photos here may have to add a link to them.
Oh to big hold on will just add a link to these.

Love those critters! Especially the wolfhound. I know notes from '49 can get pricey, but here's what the bay is currently offering.

Hi Bruce,
I live in Ireland, although I was born in England, and started dealing in coins about 6 months ago.
These coins appear in really good condition for their age.
Over here the 1d is often called the penny chick ( for the obvious reason ) and the Irish mint seems to use a lot of animals and birds on it's coins.
They are not high value coins and to give you some idea of value, I have some of these dated around 1928 and I've priced them at 5 euros.
Hope this helps.
If I can help with any other advice then feel free to contact me on the forum or by email.

Well thanks all was not looking for a value, these are a gift from my son and would never be sold just passed down o him or his son.

Was looking for some history of them will search online.

My sister and uncle and some of their family were just in Ireland for 10 days they really loved it.

Our original family came over from Ireland and Ireland he is berried along with four generations in a small cemetery in Wrights ville PA.

Anyway thanks for the replies.
