I just found a 2005 no logo no p cent and it is magnetic. Is this worth keeping as it has a few black spots on the coin.I went down the RBC yesterday and I still have 30 more rolls to check from a box of 50 rolls.

I live in Cape Breton and that is the first one I noticed but if you have two rolls maybe I will look for more and in better shape. I also noticed from previous threads that certain areas of the country have more than others.Thank you for the reply on this subject.

The coin is a 2005 no p and no logo and it is magnetic. I was looking for a 2006 like this since a few years but I am not having much luck that is why I said certain coins can be found in different parts of Canada it seems in abundance like the 2006 in Ontario but none here in Cape Breton and out west as well.

I have figures from the Mint Report showing 727,825,000 1 cent coins produced in 2005 from which 11,912,000 releases in Newfoundland,18,198,000 in New Brunswick and 49,902,000 in Nova Scotia. There were also 62,358,000 pieces produced in 2004 for a total of 790,183,000 as shown in the 2006 report. The breakdown between the CPS 30,525,000 and CPZ 759,658,000 is taken from the 2006 Report table 7 page 46.I have the full Report for that year because of the gold plated maple leaf 1 cent. Hope this info is usefull to some members

I am fully aware of the mintage numbers. But the CPZ coins had no mint mark, and since they were zinc cored - were not magnetic, while the CPS had the P mint mark. Are you telling me there are hoards of 2005 1-c coins, without the P mint mark, but magnetic? What about 2005P 1-cent coins, but non-magnetic?

I must apologize! My eyes are failing me as I misread the original post! I do not have any 2005 no logo no p magnetic pennys! Combination of poor eye sight mixed with 14 hour work days is having a toll on me. I am sorry!

Wow, so within a few weeks we find there are:
2005P - Non-magnetic 2005 - Magnetic
This indicates a check of 2001-2004 is needed to see if this goof-up occurred in the other CPZ/CPS years too.

doctorman1941, my earlier advice still applies, definitely keep the coin!! On another note, I was raised in Cape Breton, what part of the island are you from?

darryldarryl: I was shocked at your initial post (before you corrected it)! More than shock at the existence of 100 such coins in mintstae, it was shock at your willingness to share the existence! I was going to joke that -- if true -- it was the costliest (perhaps $10k) post in CCF history!! In other words, if you did have 2 rolls of those, you'd have had good incentive to keep that a secret!
