I am seriously considering bidding on this PF70 DCAM Lincoln set, but the bidding is so low that I am wary of something that I might not be seeing. All 4 coins should cost around $400, but it has been listed for 10 days and bidding is only at $50. Am I missing something? http://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-S-Linc...em2a21dd4160

Probably just not getting a lot of attention because its ICG. But I've also seen listings sit real low till the last 30 seconds or so when everyones trying to snipe it

Because ICG - although a reputable firm - is considered subpar in their choice of the "70" designation. Not to mention, these were pulled from an 18-piece "set" offered on HSN (note the labels). Anytime the term "HSN" comes up regarding coins, I immediately go into mode. I doubt PCGS would call these 70's.

Quote: How much should I snipe? Why not just buy pcgs / ngc pf69s? They are probably of the same quality and you may be able to buy them at a cheaper price.

I don't see HSN. Is it the flags that give away the HSN?

Could these actually be PF70 since they are first day issue?

I don't even trust ngc / pcgs with 70s either, because imo a coin can never be 'perfect'. Quote: I don't see HSN. Is it the flags that give away the HSN? HSN has sold, and may still be selling 18 coin proof sets graded by this company. The 18 coin proof set designation is on these slabs. edit And here's a link: http://www.hsn.com/collectibles/200...7125_xp.aspx

I recall reading that proofs coming out on the first day are almost always PF70. Was I misinformed?

Yes! This is 100% incorrect. It does not matter when the coin was produced.

The total cost for 4 pf69s would be around $70. I ended up not bidding but now wish that I would have tried a $55 bid. I might have won.

Are there any NGC or PCGS slabs that say "first day issue" with a grade of pf69?
