Hello,
In addition to the stating the grade of this coin I would like you to take a look at two sets of closeup photos.
When comparing the closeup shots of the obverse sides can one assume that a 1917 and a 1918
Standing Liberty quarter are identical except for the dates?
Assuming that this is the case then why does the 1918 coin appear that it never had a horizontal line running under 'IN GOD' on the left and under 'WE TRUST' on the right? The higher grade 1917 coin from CCF's example quarters clearly shows the presence of those two horizontal lines.
Please note that the CCF example closeup obverse photos of the 1917 quarter are the smaller shots compared to the larger size photos of the 1918 quarter in this thread.
Also, if one closely compares the obverse sides of the 1917 to the 1918, the position of the stars do not match up exactly with the locations of the two rectangular boxes which are adjacent to the lower outside legs of Ms. Liberty.
On the 1918 the 4th star on the right side, for example, lines up with the 'bottom' two horizontal lines of the rectangular box.
In contrast the 1917 quarter has the 5th star on the right side lining up with the 'bottom' two horizontal lines of the rectangular box.
Could this 1918 quarter be a misprint or an error?
Please give me your opinions with some known examples(if available) of this design.
Thanks,
