Hand full of collectors that are crazy enough to pay 3500 for these, better list an sell them ASAP in my opinion, before all the hype fizzels out IMO....
Good luck with them, and welcome to the site!!

ya I've got people telling me to put them up for auction but I just dont know lol dont get me wrong 875$per ounce is alot of money but I think I will hold just until I can find out how many were made or still out there, must be rare and hard to get if they pay 875$an ounce,,if I sell ill never know what true value they had, if I hold I guess I cant go wrong with paying 60$an ounce for them.

I say sell one...then you effectively have nothing in the second, that way if you want to hold onto it, you won't feel pressed to " get your money out of it ".

just found some info I would like to share with all of you,, just found out that mintage was less then 100,000 but that was for all 3 differnt 4oz engelhard bars that they had made, was told now there are pro. fewer then 10,000 of this bar,,, the thing about selling just one is that they are so close in serial numbers and would hate to break em up,,,,now that I know they are really rare think ill hold them heck dont have much invested in them at all just 60$an ounce,,im still young and if these are rare they will go up and pay for some of my kids collage in 10years--

Don't get caught up in all the hooplah you see on ebay right now. You are making one huge and fundamental flaw when it comes to the value of those bars. What is popular today may be forgotten in the future. There is no promise that those bars will be as sought out in the future as they are today. I say, strike while the market is rewarding you. You are basing your 10,000 population on mere speculation....what's to say someone else isn't sitting on a few hundred of them or even a few thousand and when they see the prices recently realized....flood the market with them and reduce the price and perceived rarity. Use what you KNOW now because speculation and guesswork usually don't work out for the positive long term.

I once had a 1997 Detroit Redwing 4 oz. medallion designed to celebrate their sweep in the finals of the Flyers, and it was ONLY ONE OF 250 minted here on Earth....
I had like 150 in it, and sold it when silver was mid 40's for like 250 perhaps....
Ten thousand really is not that rare IMO....
Piece like that medallion has next ZERO chance of ever getting up to 875 per oz., via sports mem with very little interest to most minus a Red-wing silver hoarder perhaps...
To NOT sell those bars now could be the worse mistake you will ever make, and I love when you guys ask for advice and swing 180 the other way, just like I often do, lol....
In five years silver could be double in price and those bars hoarded and forgotten may be worth way less....
But then maybe you will sit on them and get rich, best of luck either way....

Like mentioned before what is popular today may not be tomorrow, think Pogs and beanie babies. The flaw with these is they arent a coin minted by the government, nothing at all stops englehard from deciding tomorrow to start up production on these again because of how popular they are at the moment. They dont have to report their mintages or even keep track. While people may think its relatively rare it could turn out to be very common or easy to get making the price plummet. Id sell these right now take the 7 grand from them and invest most of it and use some to get some more things.

I'm wondering why the serials are covered? The one that sold for 3500 was the result of a bidding war between TWO collectors in which one collector had won both bars prior for 2000 & 2600 respectively. The third, imo was the culmination of "I have to have this, and your not going to beat me" not to mention that it had a four digit serial instead of a five. Not two weeks later a five digit went in a true no reserve auction for 1600. It wasn't that long ago that these bars were going for 700 and raising eyebrows. You should consider yourself blessed to have found not one but two for 2x melt! I secretly hope to encounter these everytime I walk into a BST, or a we buy place. Do what you want, they are yours... but look up 4oz engelhard bars on ebay right now and you'll see one sitting there BIN 3500 with no action. I know what I do, and I like Engelhard & JM... Trade them puppies for kilos! Good luck.

Ditto to all of the above. Think of how much silver you could be sitting on if you flipped those. Instead of 4 oz each...they could be 100 oz bars. That would be holding on to REAL value, not the hyped up ebay market. I can't see much up side potential for these bars. Their price is peaking with all the PM interest of late and some folks still have some money. Soon, disposable income could be gone and the value of those bars drops to melt. Wooops. Could have 200 oz instead of 8. Huummm...oh well, you choice!

To be quite honest I cannot for the life of me see why these purely bullion bars command such a high premium I would dump them like hot potatoes and grab the insane price for these while it is still there and count your blessings. I agree that some bars can have a premium over others purely because they are a recognised brand and have an easier disposal capability, These however can all be faked by unscrupulous people. But the prices these are selling for is unsustainable and in my opinion is simply a Fad at the moment. So Dump em, grab your money and run is my advice
