Thanks for the coin-compliments, gang ...

oh, and sel_69l => thanks again for the heads-up regarding PVC and silvered coins (I am currently in the process of removing PVC from all of my albums) ...

NOTE => For the record, good ol' Galerius rated 36th & 46th in our two Rarity Tables ...

Have a great night ... I've got the day off tomorrow!!

Very nice--it's easy to imagine what it looked like in Roman times.

Good qulaity album pages don't cost much extra----
No amount of money can restore coins blackened by the gassing out of soft PVC.

Having never collected ancients before I have never really needed 2x2's either but they do make sense for some of these coins, and the ability to write on them will be handy for keeping track of reference numbers that otherwise might get forgotten.

So I will give it a try :)

Sel has given multiple warnings about PVC, I think most of the numiss products should be ok on that front, I previously had a problem with a PVC "classic" album so this year I have spent lots on supplies and rehousing to try and avoid any more problems of that nature in future.

As for your coin it is a nice one but I am not entirely sure how I feel about the follis, it looks cool but part of me is very anti-plating. For the time being I think I will try to stick with silver and bronze coinage, having such a small collection of ancients I still have plenty of choice for the meantime.

Very nice coin. I'm not much of an ancient coin collection, but there is something about this one that just calls to me.

DavidUK & tgauchsin => thanks for the comments ...

Yah, I am a huge fan of "solid" coins as well, but I merely thought this particular Follis was quite cool because it is still quite "silvered" ... plus, I think it is kinda neat having a coin which respresents this era in ancient coin history (the good ol' cheesy silver-plating era) ...

Quote:
The Roman follis was a large bronze coin introduced in about 294 with the coinage reform of Diocletian. It weighed about 10 grams and was about 4% silver, mostly as a thin layer on the surface.

Quote:
The follis of Diocletian, despite efforts to enforce prices with the Edict on Maximum Prices, was revalued and reduced. By the time of Constantine, the follis was smaller and barely contained any silver.

... man, I find this stuff so bloody interesting!!
