I was just wondering if there are currency "Sets" that people collect like coin collector put together penny sets or Franklin half sets? I have put together what I call a "Rainbow Set". This is a set of notes, one of each color of seals: blue red green gold and so on.... I am currently working on Obsolete Kansas Banknote of the 1800's. Are there other sets and what sets have you put together?

Dear ragpicker, to my knowledge no one has ever defined a "rainbow" set as you have described. The definition of "collection" is: (at least the one that I use) an assembly of coins or currency gathered together PURPOSEFULLY! One of each seal by color - THAT is a collection in my book! One of each of the 12 districts is traditional. Of course, by the same year and signatures. One of each denomination, from one to one hundred, would work. Same criteria: by date and by signatures. Do not ever loose your talent for creating a collection that has not been tried before.
Oh, and no, I have not done this myself. I just like to encourage those creative collectors such as yourself.

Have had a mind to collect the original 10 denominations of Continental currency issued in 1775. Uncut sheets of that series are out there, and they have one each of the $1 through $8 denominations!

I went through a lot of changes before I figured out how I wanted to put my currency collection together. Right now I have two Dansco currency albums. The first album has $1.00 notes, starting in 1928 to date. I put one note for each year and series. Of just blue and green seals. 1928, 1928 A, 1928 B .. etc (three notes to complete) The second album starts out with with $2.00 red seals, starting 1928, then the green seals 1976 to date. The back pages of this album has 3 red seals, 3 brown seals, 3 yellow seals, 3 blue seals, 3 green seals, 3 big head and 3 colorized. (five notes to complete this album) Here are where I posted these albums .. when I started them, some of the notes, I moved to get them more organized. I dont have any new pictures at this time. https://goccf.com/t/123578https://goccf.com/t/122392Most of my other notes are in currency boxes (large and small), until I figure out how I want to put them into a another album.

GR58, I looked at your links to the photos of your collection. Very nice set. I really like the Dansco album. What are the dimensions of the album and what kind of binding does it have? I currently use a large 3-ring binder and have been looking for something new.

If you have seen any of the hard cover dansco's, the currency albums are the same, except a little bigger 9 3/4 X 8 inches. Of course the pages are soft currency pages. There are two screws that hold the pages.
Some of the Dansco albums are hard to find right now .. these currency albums are one of those. I hope they come out with something soon .. I would like to get a couple more.

GR58-Thanks.
Yes I have many Dansco's for coins and am glad to hear that this currency album has the "post" binding.
Looks like I just found my "something new"

That is the fun of collecting. You can personalize it to your taste. You take the time, spend the money so collect what you want. There are no set rules as to what you collect. Enjoy the Hobby.

Pretty cool idea of a rainbow set. Make sure you put them in the order of the colors of a rainbow (spectrum) though. Like, Red, (Orange), Gold, Green, Blue, (Violet).
