"And now for the weather, we turn to our own Meteorologist,
Octavius Flatulus, with what the skies will bring our way."

EVERYONE says that coins are history, so when I read this I gave it
three thumbs up and several gold stars.

WELL DONE, jwharper!

My first and middle names. My last name is "Student."
Facebook would not accept this - said I was a possible fraud.

So, I do not do Facebook.

It takes so little effort to marry a coin to the history which it represents, and I do so enjoy reading the efforts of those who try to make both coins and history come alive.

Oh, oh, the world in sports:
"Lions 9, Christians 0 -- it was a rout, dear friends, as the lions remain undefeated.
Sad to say, Leo the Elder got a stomach ache during the last round and will be out for the rest of the season.
Turns out, eating undercooked Christians can be harmful to one's health."

Is Vincent Matthew interested in coins?

Not in the least. My youngest has a little interest, but not enough to collect.
Rest in Peace

A couple days late, but thought I'd share this coin.

Octavian, Triumvir and Imperator, Augustus 16 January 27 B.C. - 19 August 14 A.D

Silver denarius, Fair, rough, Italian (Rome?) mint, weight 3.495g, maximum diameter 18.5mm, die axis 270o, c. 29 - 27 B.C.; obverse IMP CAESAR, Octavian, holding olive branch, driving triumphal quadriga right; reverse Victory standing right on prow, wreath in right, palm over shoulder in left

RIC 264, RSC 155 - RSC 115?, sear5 1555 ex Forvm

This coin commemorates Octavian's victory at Actium and his triumph.
