Funny money? This 1901 Liberty Eagle was purchased by a friend of mine. He brought it by to show me and others are in agreement that it is not right. What's your opinions? It weighs correct 16.7 grams (my first quote was 17.9) and looks OK but upon a closer inspection.....

17.9 grams is overweight. These should weigh 16.7g. What are the dimensions? Diameter and thickness?

My dyslexia. It was 16.7 grams. I no longer have the coin in my possession so I can't provide measurements.

Nothing in the images screams fake. If the weight is good and it's not over-size then it's likely authentic.

This is a common date with tens of thousands of genuine pieces out there.

I'm with BH1964. I don't see anything suspicious jumping out at me.

I appreciate the help. My freind, who is a scrap gold buyer told me his number one coin buyer insists it is a fake. I offered him melt for it and he said he was taking it back to his seller. maybe his number one coin buyer is not number one.
