The mint confirmed they charged my credit card by accident and admitted to having done this to many other people. Apparently this was a glitch in their computer system and not an isolated incident.

I would look at your credit card statement and inquire with the mint about any unauthorized charges. If you are like me you probably have several charges a month. The charge is probably going be a large sum of money. In my case it was $860.

The mint is looking into this and is preforming an internal investigation. They are aware of what caused the unauthorized charges and will refund the money eventually or if you call them will issue an immediate refund.

First it was charging GST/PST/HST on the Group of Seven, and now it is completely erroneous charges?

Things are getting far worse, not better, there.

Terrible delays
Incapable of managing the cashflow properly.

(innocent voice) Oh, still not refunded? You should have called.

They have your money. The credit card companies may be charging you interest. Seems both parties are making out great by this at the expense of the consumer. Hardly a lot of incentive to get their act together quickly.

If you catch the problem you can call your credit card company and they will wave all interest as a result of this charge. The refund can take up to two weeks to show up on your credit card. In my case the intrust is $14.00. Not a huge amount but not a small amount also.

Thanks for the heads-up! I have a couple credit cards registered with the mint, and I will certainly check them very closely!

I'm afraid you don't understand how this company works. You cant change this thing from the bottom up. You can only make changes from the top down. Time to cut off the head of this beast.

All these problems are because they are growing quicker than they can handle, and because of poor out sourcing, and cost reduction to increase profits. A change at the mint can only happen by replacing management. The sales and customer service people had nothing to do with the implementation of this crappy software causing all the problems and have little they can do to solve problems. It's not manufacturing fault the can't keep up with demand, sales released far to many coins this year. The Fab 15 boxes were contracted out to a German company and they contracted out to a former Soviet block country to reduce labor an material costs. The boxes are on par with cheep Ikea furniture.

Working at the mint will only drive you crazy and make you never want to see another coin again.
