2012 F15 Coin Boxes Arrived Damaged. I ordered two sets of coins and both boxes arrived damaged. They were shipped together withe the Canadian, the US and the British coin all at the same time. The only problem is that they are apparently using a new supplier and the boxes are poorly produced. The inside top insert came loose and the corners are easily damaged. So easily damaged that the box was damaged while handling it in the factory and still sent to be painted.
Just a warning to all who received their boxes to check the corners carefully and send back any bad boxes. The mint will replace the boxes at their own cost and refund your shipping costs.
I still don't get one thing, why did they send the Canadian Silver Maple F15 coin in a round holder for a box with a square hole. It doesn't fit. Even my baby daugther has already figured out the square peg cant go in the round hole.

I got two maple leaf coins, one in a square holder, one in a round. I think they lost my third one. I received all 3 of the boxes. They all look perfect to me. Maybe it only happened to a certain batch.

Quote: I received all 3 of the boxes. When did you get your boxes? I got mine on Friday. The strange part is that it is a relatively good box and not easy to damage. I think they were some how damaged in the factory and not rejected. The packaging the boxes are sent in is top notch and it was not a shipping fault, In both cases it was the back bottom corner that was damaged.

I got delivery notice last week Thursday I think. Picked them up this morning. I got them with the silver eagles. Package is really nice. I am really only interested in the maple leaf. The silver eagle looks fine but way over priced( ebay has it for about $70). Don't really like the Vienna Philharmoynic. I might cancel the subscription. If I ended up paying 20% over every one of them, I might as well buy them off ebay.

@tocoins I feel the same way you do. I think this is a nice set but I think I can save $200-$300 building the set myself. I also don't really like the coin selection. I'm not interested in coins from Africa especially ones that support corrupt governments or ones that don't respect human rights. I just wanted the box and the watch. It would be nice if we could reject some coins and keep others, kind of like the old Columbia House CD club.

My problem is that some of the square coin holders are broken. The back and face are fine, but the tabs inside that hold the coin centred are broken. Since each is made precisely for each coin, and the coins are not all the same, you can't just order a new holder without specifying which holder is broken.

I'm sure the mint will replace anything damaged. I can't see them refusing to do that. Unfortunately it's unnecessary work on your end shipping them back.

@DoobyRak There is no way to complete the 2012 set without continuing the subscription. Once you get the "Bullion" issues the scarcer items are sent out. Such as the F15 Silver Golden Eagle from Andorra ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nATA...feature=plcp ) which seems hauntingly similar to the RCM 2000 50 cent Bald Eagle from the 'Birds of Prey' set. Not to mention the F15 African Silver Ounce from Rwanada with the privy mark.

Just an update to the F15 fiasco. My third box just arrived damaged and they forgot to return the coin.
They require that if you return the box the coin that comes with it be returned also. The only problem is they did not send the coin back and now I can not prove that I returned the coin. This is not the worst part, third box is damaged also. The top insert is not glued in properly. That's still not the worst part. The double charged me for all the F15 coins I received to date $800+. That's my mortgage payment. I now have to pay the credit card company and hope for a refund next month. This is starting to read like a bad comedy.
I don't know what to do. I've already canceled over $2000 in coins but they don't seam to get the message. Maybe its best not to deal with these people any more. I am at my wits end waiting 6 months for coins, partial shipping and crazy emails. I have no idea what I have left on order, what I received or whats pending. I don't like this game, this game is not for me.

A truly sad story @Dooby Rak, I hope you can eventually get it all resolved. Maybe the RCM should get out of the "fancy box" business and just focus on producing high-quality coins that are delivered on a timely basis for a fair cost. Its "free" cases aren't really free -- their cost is built into the accompanying coins -- and recent efforts chronicled here on CCF suggest that they have been more trouble than they are worth for the RCM as well as for the collectors who ordered them. I believe the RCM's special packaging is an effort to attract casual and non-collectors to its products vs. offering a viable long-term storage solution for collectors who purchase coins year after year. The packaging takes up so much more space than is needed, it has become a nuisance for some collectors (based on comments I've seen here on CCF). I take the silver dollars that I collect out of their clam shell boxes and put them in coin trays so that I can enjoy them 20 at a time; I keep the coins in their protective capsules while in the trays. It's a space efficient solution that works for me -- the original packaging is stored in a box that is tucked away in the closet in case it were to be needed in the future. Just my thoughts...

I agree with Commems's comment. I have a storage box stuffed in the attic with all the 'original cases' and packaging from the mint. If the coins are gold, they are in the safety deposit box, and the silver's are in display trays.
A few years ago I complained of the 'cheap looking' plastic holders the coins came in. (I think 2006 an earlier) These were easier to shelve and display. The new 'clam shells' are Okay, if you have one or two in a curio cabinet but otherwise take up way too much room.
