Thanks, Jaunty_Turtle and illegaltender...

The coins are still sitting on my scanner - had to double check to make sure it wasn't all a dream... I did go back to the scene this morning... found a foreign "1 Urn" coin under said machine, but nothing else there.

Thanks, jbuck! I feel like the kid who robbed the candy store. Christmas came a couple of days early for me!

37 of the quarters turned out to be silver including a dateless Standing Liberty (the other 4 were all dated 1965 and two look like they came fresh from the mint). All 34 of the dimes were silver, including a 1944 Mercury... one of the British Pennies is dated 1913...

That is an amazing haul, John77! Congratulations. The Standing Liberty is especially impressive. You could put together a nice 20th-century type set from circulation. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Thanks, aristarchus! Two days later and I'm still amazed that this happened... Merry Christmas to you as well!

Thanks, spruett001! I've always said timing is everything when it comes to CoinStar (and also CRH)... I wanted to get into town early in the morning Saturday to beat the Christmas crowds. As they say "the early bird gets the worm!" Er... silver coins!

What's even funnier is just the other day I was thinking about hoping to find one of those old British large penny coins as others had half dollar CRH. And I get mine amongst a batch of 71 silver coins in a Coinstar.

Thanks, cabowabo! Yeah, it doesn't get better than this in terms of Coinstar finds. I've got eight machines locally I try to check at least 1-2 times a week - the three closest ones (all within a mile and a half of me) I check 4-5 times a week... My big windfall came from one of the three nearby ones. So, I guess the moral is persistence pays off!

In my excitement over my Coinstar bonanza the other day, I neglected to mention the fact that I also found an old Glendale City Lines, Inc. "One Fare" Token amongst the hoard of coins.

Today's small jackpot:
4.25 in quarters
1.50 in dimes
.30 in nickles
.10 in cents
PLUS a 1964 silver quarter!

and
a 2.00 Canadian toonie
1.50 in Canadian quarters (one is a 2007 Curling quarter)
.10 in Canadian nickles
.70 in Canadian dimes
PLUS a 1932 Canadian nickle
and a 2 Euro Cent

Not too shabby.
