santafeboy Pillar of the Community United States 593 Posts	Posted 12/21/2017 7:53 pm Silver in the street and the coinstar. today I felt like a walk to the coinstar, on the way I saw what I thought was a regular Jefferson nickel until I saw the P on the reverse it turned out to be a 1945. I also found another 69 cents in beaten up change and a Mexican 1 centavo .The coinstar was even better results, 1964 D, and 1964 Roosevelt dimes, 56 cents in clad a United Arab Emirates coin around the size of a quarter date and denomination in Arabic Report this Post to the Staff

John77 Pillar of the Community United States 2949 Posts	Posted 12/23/2017 12:35 pm So I walked into one of my local grocery stores to beat the crowds early this morning to get some last minute Christmas cards for family... Well, after visiting the ATM there, I strolled down to the Coinstar... I look in the reject bin and it is chock full of coins - dimes and quarters! Immediately I noticed they looked lighter in color than normal... I put my hand in and hear THAT sound... you know THAT sound! 41 quarters, 34 dimes, 2 British large penny coins, one British half penny, and a German 50? coin... Drumroll... 37 of the quarters turned out to be silver including a dateless Standing Liberty (the other 4 were all dated 1965 and two look like they came fresh from the mint). All 34 of the dimes were silver, including a 1944 Mercury... one of the British Pennies is dated 1913... Merry Christmas to me! Pictures to come! I'm still in shock! Not in my wildest dreams did I think this was possible. Given that there were no American cents at all, and as Steel Cents, and 1940 and 1941 dated cents are often rejected, my guess is they likely didn't cash any of them in... There's really no way to tell with the Nickels as War Nickels don't get rejected due to them being the same weight as the regulars. As for the nice old foreign coins, I have no clue what they were doing there... So happy right now! CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years!
