And, to answer your question, MOS0239, yes the Coinstar machines do reject silver (other than War Nickels)... the reason for this is the machines are set to look for specific coin specifications... so they look for both the size of the coin and also the weight. 90% Silver coins weigh about 10.23% more than their copper-nickel counterparts so that is why they're rejected. War Nickels don't get rejected because they weigh the exact same amount (5 grams) as regular nickels. With five days left in 2020, here are my totals of "good" Coinstar finds this year... these are despite me finding nothing at all from March 10 through August 22 (mostly due to the virus and not shopping much)... Cents: 21 Wheats including 12 Steels Dimes: 16 Silver including 10 Mercs Quarters: 2 Silver (1953, 1964) Halves: 1 Silver - 40% (1967) CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets! Report this Post to the Staff

As for me, well, no silver on the last day of the year, but a massive 114 coin dump (mostly European coins) in one of my local machines ... the breakdown: US: Quarter (1), Dimes (2), Pennies (6) CAN: 2 Dollars (4) European: 2 Euros (4), 1 Euro (21), 50 Cent (4), 20 Cent (9), 10 Cent (26), 5 Cent (4), 2 Cent (7), 1 Cent (3) Discontinued European: 20 Pence (4), 10 Pence (8), 5 Pence (2), 2 Pence (4), 1 Penny (2) Various: 5 Kroner, 1 Franc, 1 UAE coin... There was also a Christian cross (in picture but upside down) and a washer CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!
