That's great! Congrats! Makes me wonder how often there are gems in those trays that are then picked up and spent by somebody that doesn't even know.

This wasn't from a coinstar but got this in change from quik-cheks self checkout last night. Made a 2nd purchase and found a nice 47 nickel.

I have found two silver dimes in the coinstar machine in the past 3 weeks,a 1964 D and a 1964. I also got a silver dime in change the same day at the same store as I got the 64 D from the coinstar. Last week I also got a 1955 wheatie.

As I was leaving school today, I caught a glimpse of shiny metal in the change tray of a vending machine, so I pulled out a 2015-D Saratoga quarter.

I went to my dump place (credit union) to put my halves through the coin counter and in the reject tray were a 75 Canadian quarter, a Lincoln Cent, a really beat up Maryland State Quarter and a coin I have yet to id.

At my local grocery store today I found a couple beat up Zincolns, a 94 nickel and a 2004 Belgium 2 Euro coin. Last week I found a few miscellaneous US coins and a Canadian nickel.

The wife gets mad at me when I check the machine, she thinks it is trashy. I see that as a compliment.

Numisma, after I removed the gunk off the mystery coin, it turned out to be a 10 pfennig coin from Germany, 1979.

Would it not be interesting if that coin could tell us of it's journey from West Germany in 1979 to that coin counter in Washington State in 2011?

Thats what I love about world coins. Having coins fro countries that no longer exists, coins that could have been held by dictators, or nobel peace prize winners. Thats why I am a collector :)
