Every time I get behind my desk and put on my little mag glasses and "start playing with my coins" I get told that its cute and I look like a nerd. She is a great supporter of my hobby/business thank god because if I had to choose....maybe I better stop there.

Anyways, Hello everyone!! I'm a new guy here and look forward to learning from you guys...who knows, maybe I can share a few things to.

There are degree's of nerdishness but to collect coins I think you have to have a mild degree of nerd in you.

Really the fact that I collect coins is not information I would volunteer to anyone, but its OK you are amongst friends here :)

Thanks David. The nerd comments are playful fun, but I agree...alittle bit of a stereo-type thing maybe that goes along with coin collecting and if that makes me a nerd than I better stock up on my pocket protectors because I love it!

Ive read several post here and you all seem like very great people who each have alittle of something to bring to the plate and I look forward to making alot of new friends

Oh rmc,
If putting on glasses and playing with your coins makes you a nerd, then you will find many other nerds here!
Would your wife prefer you to go to a bar and stagger in after midnight?
I get my sister to play with me as follows:
"Rose, this very big pile is worth next to nothing. This very small pile is worth several hundred dollars."
She pays attention and NEVER calls me a nerd!

Welcome/Bienvenue to/a CCF.

my wife said the same thing when I started collecting coins. A couple weeks after she told me she still had a collection of stamps that she started when she was a kid. So I looked her in the eyes and said'' stamps? Nerd !''

LOL, my wife says the same thing about me, "Glenn your a total nerd!" When I took her to a coin show once, she cracked up laughing after. I asked her what was soo funny, she said, " all you guy's that collect coins are nerds".
She pointed out to me that everyone attending was male, middle aged, didn't know how to dress, wore pontdexter glasses, and had pot bellies.

rmc.

Indeed it's true, most wives think alike.
To get back at her one day I bought a handful of coins.
When I got home,I started looking them up in the latest Charlton edition and said that I was having trouble identifying the variety. Of course she grabbed the book out of my hands. I gave her the 1953 NSF near nickle to find for herself. After that nice surprise, my wife doesn't think of me being a nerd any more.
The best of hunting to you.

I opened a new roll of 1963 pennies the other day to look for hangers and my wife was right in there like a dirty shirt...I think it takes her back to her childhood when she was trying to find Waldo. Do they make pocket protectors in womens sizes :D
