Strike it Rich with Silver in Coin Rolls

Kindle Version

The Hunt is On!

You see them in cash registers and in bank tellers' trays. Rolls of coins - pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. But what you may not realize is that far more than the face value of the coins may be hidden in those rolls.

Real silver coins may be mixed in with the modern-day clad nickels, dimes and quarters. Real copper pennies may be mixed in with the copper-plated zinc cents made today. And there's always the chance that a rare dated coin is among the coins stacked neatly in the paper coin roll.

Hunting rolls of coins for silver and copper coins and rare-dated coins is a fun way to get started collecting coins. And the rewards can be great.

Author David Conway gives you tips for finding those elusive precious metal coins, dealing with bank personnel and handling your coin finds.

So get ready to grab a few rolls of coins and let the hunt begin!

Well a pro would be that it brings more people into coin collecting, which I personally think is a good thing for the hobby.

What I'd be concerned about is that the new people to the hobby would only be silver hunters, and I think that there is just so much more to the hobby they will never get into. Plus, depending on how it is worded in the book, there will be a TON of people thinking they can get rich off silver finds, when we all know we are happy to get a silver coin in an entire box.

Worse yet: Everyone will go for halves and make it harder to get boxes, LOL.

Naw, wait 'till they buy a box and get a reality check...or have to deal with all the wrathchild tellers...and, find out it't cheaper to just buy silver.

Funny replies, guys

I think the number of people getting boxes is at a high right now, and after a while they'll get sick of it and stop.

Especially if they don't find silver.

I got into coin collecting because of Ken Potter's book - that was only the tip of the iceberg for me.... fealt like Johny 5 - need more input.... input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input .....lol

Doubt everyone will take a dive off the deep end after reading this, but the more collectors the better the "return" on our investment will be.

... have to admit that I had the same question that BernieZ posed as well...
