I don't know enough about the series to help, but I do find it curious to know....did it get a 68 rating because it is off center?

It's not off-center, the slab insert is designed to accommodate various diameters of coins while maintaining it's original "non-rattle" thickness. It's just placed in crooked, at an angle. NGC places a value of $81.90 for this coin, with 455 other 1956 Washington cameo proofs sharing this NGC assigned grade. http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/C...=1827486-025Pretty sweet!

Very nice. Question though. The scratch in front of his chin and the one going from the pony tail...are they on the coin or the holder?

Nice coin. It looks like the scratch is on the holder, I don't think any TPG would give a coin a 68 with visible scratchs like that.

I'm certain that the provided photos don't do it justice. Based on what I see, I do think 68 CAM might be a grade or two off. Could you describe the toning?

I won this on ebay today. I do not have it in hand yet and assuming those scratches are on the holder. Paid a total of $34 for it. I will post pics when I receive it.

Washquartjesse, why do you think it is a grade or two high? What do you see that tells you that. Thanks and I am just learning. I will post better pics when I receive it. Any area you you wish to see a close up of when I get it?

Why isn't this off-center?

I think it is offset in the holder, crooked, on an angle. Like oih82w8 says.

The fields. Also, what I thought looked like toning might be just a mixture of light sources and reflections. This doesn't change my opinion of the coin either way though. The pic is just really pixilated (sp?)so it's hard to say. I think you paid a very good price for the coin.

I like the coin and one has to see it in hand to agree or disagree. You cannot grade through a picture.
Great job silverguy for the buy!

You are a much better photographer than the seller. This coin looks much better now. If you are pleased with it, that should be enough. Congrats on a beautiful coin!

as long as your happy, thats a good thing. I like how you collect the coin, not the holder.....their will be many who drink the kool aid and bash anything about NGC
