Quote:just confirmed with the RCM. It's not part of the subscription that was with the polar bear. That's just idiotic. Oh well, three is enough for me. Not a nice design. Why didn't they just call it Rudolf, is there a copyright on that name. I thought that was public domain by now. Thank God they didn't color the nose red. It wouldn't be out till next Christmas.

Gotta admit I'm a bit confused by the whole subscription thing. You'd think if you're subscribing to the 20 for 20 series, the subscription would last as long as the series did. Might you they never said how long the series will run. Just as well, I think I will only get one of these, don't like it too much...

Yes I was a little confused as well and I ended up with 6 farewell to the penny coins, I do like the design and theme behind it, but I'm not sure if I like them enough to keep 6 of them. Is it a big hassle to return stuff to the mint? I've always just kept my coins weather I wanted them or not.

The whole reason why I got three was to sell one or two on ebay at some point. I haven't checked what the various 20 for 20's are going for on ebay, but you could consider selling a few of your Farewell to the Penny ones.

I just notice this:
Specifications Mintage While Supplies Last Composition fine silver (99.99% pure) Finish specimen Weight (g) 7.96 Diameter (mm) 27 Edge serrated Certificate not serialized Face value 20 dollars Artist Virginia Boulay (reverse), Susanna Blunt (obverse)
So there is no limit on mintage?
BTW, there is a video of the actual coin on the website, and it actually looks petty nice.

It looks more like Santa went hunting, and poor Rudolf got his...and was unceremoniously tossed in the back of a pick up truck.

No limit. Looks like they're targetting this as xmas presents for everyone.

Is the mintage really important for just a $20 dollars (Popular) coin? Expect to raise up to 100 times after a decade?
I absolutely agree with Hobbes. It is a great Xmas gift for everyone. Even if someone missed all the previous coins in the series. It is still a perfect gift.
I will bring some with me for my oversea friends and relative on my Holiday vacation.
Cheers

I have no idea why people are confused. The mint's website was very clear.
"Never miss out on a $20 for $20 by subscribing to the next two coin launches for 2012 (does not include the Polar Bear coin)."
It does not say, for the next three launches, or forever.

Is anyone else as annoyed as I am that:
1) There appears to be no mintage limit on this coin, 2) It was announced only a couple weeks after the last 20 for 20, 3) The 20 for 20 series might be endless, 4) It was announced months before it's being released, and 5) The design is terrible
?
Like everyone else I've just about had it with the mint.

1) There appears to be no mintage limit on this coin, --> it's better to have a limit, and I hope this is not the beginning of a trend but just because it is a xmas coin. 2) It was announced only a couple weeks after the last 20 for 20, --> it is actually a pre-sale, the coin won't come out until Nov, and with Mint's track record these days, who knows if we will receive them before Easter. 3) The 20 for 20 series might be endless, --> I think that is actually a good thing, making a complete set more valuable, just like the coloured bird series. 4) It was announced months before it's being released, and 5) The design is terrible --> design is a matter of taste, I think kids would like it. --> Overall, I like it

Quote: I have no idea why people are confused. People may be confused because there has been another subscription offer since the one for the Polar Bear. Also, in my case, the subscription ended with them sending the Queen Jubilee coin. (Although that may just be an isolated error on their part.) It also mentioned "payment will be billed to your credit card in spring and fall of 2012, when coin 1 and coin 2 respectively ship.". The Farewell to the Penny was announced and shipped in August (summer not fall)which contradicts their description. The Reindeer coin will be shipped in the fall. So, in my opinion, the RCM has given reason for there to be confusion.

Do you think this is the last one of 20 to 20?
