OK, here are a couple of the pieces I have for sale. They were handy and easier to photograph than the ones in my Dansco. That will take me a little while longer... Not sure why the frosty areas are so funky looking on the 10. Looks almost like glitter in the pics. And the other hazard of photographing proofs. Every blasted spec on the 2x2 shows up.

Quote: Not sure why the frosty areas are so funky looking on the 10. Looks almost like glitter in the pics. In 2009, they changed the frosting technique resulting in a sand blasted appearance. It is another reason why recent proofs look as if they lack detail (when compared to previous years). http://mintnewsblog.blogspot.com/se...771891436507

this is one I got yesterday that's destined for a Dansco. The long scratch along his hair and the smudge to the left of the profile are on the 2x2 as well.

Very nice smokeriderdon.
Ive been thinking about swapping my P & D Dansco for the version that includes proofs. Honestly, I just dont feel like swapping out the coins already in my kennedy set!

Question first -- why is the 1998 S proof considered the "Key to the Kennedy Series"? Or is it the matte finish proof?
I guess I want to know more about the matte finish proofs... how rare are they?
thanks for the help Paul

@PWinDavis
The current "key" to the series is the silver Matte finish 1998 coin, it was issued with a Robert Kennedy commemorative dollar and is unique in finish and has low mintage.
