While this topic may be of interest only to those of us who are ebay stockholders and may be dry to everyone else, I thought I'd post it since it will have a direct impact on ebay's valuation.

It's speculation only at this point, but it may be surmised that the purchase of Shopping.com will offset ebay's loss of quality buyers and sellers over the past few months, especially as we have seen, in the coins categories. Shopping.com has a coins section, of sorts:

This news was expected for some time now. Shopping.com has been a growing segment and the best way to rid yourself of competition is to buy it.

This is just the most recent in a very long list of aquisitions. I am surprised that Overstock has withstood ebay's offers (and I would be very surprised to find that ebay hasn't made offers).

As soon as an auction site looks like it might succeed, ebay breaks out the checkbook.

Answer is simple, ebay wants a monopoly--No competition--Shame on ebay, it's not like they are doing such a great job with all the junk and frauds being done on their sites--Shame on you!!
