That coin was struck through a disintegrating die cap. Did you purchase it from Daves Collectable Coins?

Really cool. I see a few cents like that here and there but not nearly in such "bad" shape.

Why does there appear to be zinc exposed on some of the higher features?

The reverse looks quite normal, I'll upload it in a minute.

No I didn't buy it from Dave's Collectible Coins, I work there. We just bought a full set of cents and this was in one of the blank slots. It is very interesting so I though I'd share.

I'm not sure what the zinc-looking blotches are. It is a pre-1982 cent so it is solid copper.

Hi Derrick,

I am glad you an an employee, we have had a few instances lately of people presenting stolen pics as their own and I noticed the watermark so I thought an enquiry was in order. Value would be $10-20, a legible date certainly helps in that regard because many capped die strikes have indistinct details.
