Look more like rpm #2. There's some of the second D below. Can you get a better or closer picture of the MM?

Location looks good for 004, definitely not 002.

OK, here's the best I can do with the MM. Might have more of a spread than #4. It's not unc so I can find any of the scratch markers.
1955-D-LWC-RPMI think you're right Maineman, the location looks like #4.

Appears to be 004 to me. The split on the 002 & 004 are different and locations are different. 004 is it. Nice find.

Sorry guys. Looking at photos of #2 and #4. I don't see any split below mm on the photo of #4 but I do on yours. Photo of #2 shows a split. Top serif in same position on both 2 and 4. Still think yours is #2.

sab3927, RPMs are just like retail. Location, location, location. Here is a side by side view of 002 and 004.

1955-D-LWC-RPM

Though well circulated, you can still see the split to the south as well as the upper serif on the 004(the one on the right) Now the location part. The 002(the one on the left) is situated almost directly between the 9 & the 5 of the date. Whereas on the 004 it is shifted to the right, noticeably more under the 5 than the 9, just as the coin numismo posted.

Conclusion: it is indeed the 004, and he had two of the hobbies top variety collectors already tell him so.
