This is the seller's idea of a "net" AG-3 coin.
The obverse is at least G-4, no doubt about it.

The reverse: Bingo! More wear than the rest of my AG-3 CC Morgans, but still above the typical FR-2.

After I posted my 1879-CC Morgan a while back, some said it could go G-4. And I conceded it might be possible.
But I think this 1880-CC is net AG-3, no matter its G-4 obverse. Do you?

I have to wonder how the wear came to be that irregular, but agree with your reasoning. It's VAM-7, by the way, a Top 100 coin.

Should make G04. Obverse looks G06 while the reverse looks AG3 to me.

I think it can make a G-4. The reverse looks a bit weaker than a G but I think the obverse is nice enough to bring it up.

Wow, great call on the VAM. I could barely see the die chip on the 8 or the short ear! Back into the VAM book.

Obverse definitely a G4, reverse AG3. As to the net grade, flip a coin.

I would sell this coin as a G4.

Thanks, everyone! This one doesn't really match my other AG-3 Carson City Morgans (lower grade reverse than my other AG-3's, and the obverse could make G-6 if the grader was in a good mood), but I only paid AG-3 bid and it's a VAM-7 (the seller may not have known this, but my 16x loupe made it obvious!)
