Very, very nice!

This looks like an MS64 to me. In my opinion, there are a few too many light marks in the field to put it at 65.

Additionally, this looks like a Reiver JR-10. I couldn't see all of the cracks in the photos, but I think I saw enough for identification. It will be easier for you to tell with the coin in-hand. The markers for the JR10 are:

Obverse cracks: In the field to the ball on front of cap, from the front of cap across the cap below the top with a branch up to the rim at the center of the cap.

Reverse cracks: From the rim to the leaf left of H, from the left side of the shield across the center of the verticals to the right wing, and a crack along the tops of ALF.

If this is correct, this variety has a rarity rating of R7, which means that it is considered to be Extremely Rare with only an estimated 4-12 in existence. I don't think the TPG's attribute Reiver numbers, though. You'd need to check if you want to get this professionally graded with the variety noted.

Great find!

Well that puts a whole new spin on this one. I'll have to take a closer look at this coin. You've got me excited at the possibility.....I thought it would look nice in my type set. What kind of premium would that variety add to this coin?

I don't really, know, to tell you the truth. There are a fair amount of CBH variety collectors. I would suggest doing some Google searches for the JR number with and without the dash. Check to see if any have sold on Heritage, Teletrade, ebay, etc. I would say that there should be a relatively significant premium for the variety if you can find the right market to re-sell it.

The Bust Half Nut Club meets at the January F.U.N. show and could verify the attribution and give you an idea of price if you can make it to Orlando in January. We'd love to meet you and I would like to see the coin in person.

Seriously?!?! I don't even want to speculate how much you paid for this one. Gorgeous coin. MS-64 sounds right would be sweet if it's an ultra-rare variety

I got a chance to look at this under a loupe....all the markers are there on the obverse and the reverse.....The Die crack over the ALF on the reverse is tough....im seeing between the L and F but not certain above the A ....everything else is there as far as I can tell.....there are some light hairlines under a loupe indicative of a cleaning....not otherwise noticable.

That picture is misleading as the lighting etc is showing a coin that is ms64-65.

Sorry about the picture....the details are correct...i changed my light set up....added a third light source and believe the extra lighting washed out the hairlines.....they are extremely light

Gna say xf to au until I see better pics. I have seen lighting like that make a coin look higher in grade than it actually was.

Why is this coin still raw?
