Not scrap, offcenter strike on a straight clip planchet.

Given that it has a question mark in it, and that the seller didn't even know what State Quarter it was, I would be leary shelling out $430 to them unless I knew for sure what I was getting myself into.

There are no signs that this coin isn't genuine. This particular seller also has a history of selling some great errors, many State Quarter error included, ungraded. And actually, the seller has sold many of these off center on clipped planchet State Quarters in the past.

anytime I see one seller selling a more than usual amount of this type of thing raw I start wondering if they work at the mint. This sellers address is about 6 hours away from the mint so I don't think that is the case here but that doesn't mean they don't have a family member that does. I am not saying this is a fact or even that I suspect it is what is going on, I am just saying it does pout the question in my mind when I see this type of thing over and over again from the same seller. I guess the reason is most people would have it authenticated who found it in a roll or somewhere else and one person finding this amount themselves seems rather slim so someone had to either sell them to them or give it to them

Bryan, I've thought the same thing. And frankly, I'm jealous however they're acquired.

Whatever the explanation its a spectacular looking error and pricey as well at over $650 with 20 mins left.
