Hi, I'm new here. I just inherited $7 million in gold coins. My grandfather had them in a dusty boxes for many years. Some he even buried in the yard. They were real ugly and dirty, so I cleaned them up a bit by buffing them with car polish. For the really dirty ones I had to first use my Dremel with the sandpaper attachment. Now they look real shiny. How much more do you think a dealer would give me for them?

Forget dealers: go for one of those gold buying organisations that set up in shopping centres (assuming they do that in America).

tgauchsin, I hope that's a joke. You didn't seriously buff them.

I'm guessing the inheritor will get the house, too, and if you don't think he's going to take the place down to bare studs, you're probably wrong.

$7 million would be about 250 pounds of gold. That's 125 pounds per trip. If you can't push 125 pounds in a wheelbarrow without getting a hernia, I suggest you stay away from manual labor altogether!

Question.
Why did the IRS take $750,000? Would that be back taxes?
Do they tax estates?

They do tax estates or the death tax and a lot of people call it.
