Poll Question
It goes without saying that the CCF is a terrific agglomeration of tastes and talents, and whose opinions I take seriously in my edification in numismatics. The CCF is my voice of reason in a stadium full of wheelers and dealers in the rock concert of life.

I am certain that I showed this 1859 Seated quarter (really nice toning) a few weeks back, unfortunately I had to send it back due to financial reasons. I took a bag of turnips to the blood bank the other day and managed to squeeze out a little "walking around" money to fill the "No Motto" Seated quarter void in my 7070.

I was doing some looking around last night and found four potential candidates (the original 1859 plus three others) in which I would like to hear what the CCF has to say.

I am down to four holes in my 7070!

Thanks for all you do!

Personally, I would go for the 1859. For a little extra money, you can have a coin with great eye appeal.

I saw the 1859. It has great eye appeal and it is above the rest. Sure it is more, but the others all fall short. You will thank yourself later you chose a better coin.

Eye appeal takes the others hands down on the 1859.

I really like the XF45, but what's up the the surface by the stars at 10 and 11? It's like the toning missed a few spots. The 1861 is sure a nice coin for the money, too.

The 1859 looks head and shoulders better than the others. Great eye appeal, must have toned in an album for many years.

No waiting? Strike while the iron is hot? Kinda figured as much, I just wanted to see if we were along similar lines...in which we are. I bought it (again, at more of a discount from the first time ) this morning right before I posted this thread...and a friend of mine bought the 1857, Coin "A" and a really nice 1921-D to finish off his "Morgan Dollar Mint Mark Collection". Aw, what the heck here is the dollar that he picked up. I am jealous of the die cracks around the OBV stars and the top of UNUM and REV lettering (OF AMERICA);

IMO, the 1859 is the best of the bunch but the 1861 has great detail, falls short in tone, but a solid coin for the price.

I felt the 1859 was a little overpriced personally and would have gotten the 1861.

The scratches and imbalanced toning on the 61 detract from the overall eye appeal.

Ok jbuck, I'll bite...what does the 1859 say? Other than "I'm on my way"?

I wonder if I can claim it's frequent flyer miles? Boston to PCGS (Newport Beach, CA) - PCGS to Boston - Boston to OKC - OKC to Boston - Boston to OKC

She says a lot, but mostly what I hear is "Look at my rim toning!"

Yep, she slipped through my hands ONCE, and I have regretting every day I look at the space she left in my 7070 tray.

The seller said that she bought it raw, submitted it to PCGS with the hopes of getting AU50. But she may have been "blinded by the light".
